Soledad Bustos is a British-Latin American visual artist based in London. With her varied body of work, she is pursuing an exploration in diverse artistic forms like painting, big scale cardboard assemblages, sculpture and public participation-based installations. She also collaborates in the Spanish speaking magazine La Tundra, writing about architecture and football. Bustos started studying art in1985 receiving a BA in Painting at the University of the Arts in Buenos Aires. During her career she developed an interest in both figurative and abstract painting. Her work explores the psychological nuances that arise while adapting to new environments and the complexity in defining our identity and sense of belonging as in TwoFold exhibition at Natalie Galustian (2015) and Arte3 at Willesden Art Gallery (2016).Bustos’ installations want to take a look at the beauty of the written form, literature and poetry. What the Poet Knows at Charing Cross Library (2018) was inspired on the library’s poetry section and its Chinese community. At present, Bustos is working on a series of acrylic paintings called Circus and a group of terracotta clay head sculptures.
